CAT MAT #2 A great way to use up excess yarn, especially the ugly stuff you might not like. Some mats might be pretty, some might be ugly, but all will be surprisingly spongy and a perfect cat magnet. The brick stitch pattern uses up a lot of yarn and does call for more work than usual, but it is worth it in the end. Supplies needed are: 5mm/I/9 hook Any worsted weight yarn Stitches used are double crochet, chain stitch and single crochet There are many tutorials on how to make the brick stitch so I won't describe it here. Make the pad 17 bricks by 25 bricks. Make 2 pads. Finish off the loose ends before joining them together. FOR DOG MAT: Make mat 33 x 33 bricks. Line up the corner of the 2 mats. Using a hanging single crochet do 1 sc, ch3, 1 sc in corner. 3 ch, and sc between the next 2 bricks until the end. In next corner do 1sc, ch 3, 1sc. finish off yarn at the end. 5.5 mm hook 5 mm hook worsted weight yarn - fits most average hands. If you use larger yarn, then use 5.5 mm hook and 6 mm hook for larger size. (*SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT ARM HOLE: If you want a wider arm hole, then make starting chain with a 6 mm hook. And next round use the 5.5 mm hook. You would be using 3 hooks for this project in that case.) EASY DISHCLOTH Supplies: Crafters cotton (any brand). 1.5 oz (50 g) ball makes one cloth, so a big ball makes many. Crochet hook: 5mm or 5.5 mm Stitches used: chain (ch), single crochet (sc) Start by chaining 25 plus 2 Row 1: sc in 3rd chain from hook, *ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next chain* repeat * to * to end of chain, ch 2 turn Row 2: sk sc on last row, *sc in ch 1 space of previous row, ch 1, sk next stitch, sc in next ch 1 space*, repeat * to * to end of row, ch 2 turn. Repeat row 2 until you have 24 rows completed. Finish off yarn and weave end through pattern. You now have a simple and sturdy dishcloth. Don't let size fool you! This cloth stretches when it is wet and shrinks back to its orginal size when washed and dried.

KANATA KERCHIEF TANK - VARIATION First, you need to find the Kanata Kerchif Tank pattern by Jennifer Ozses at this link: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kanata-kerchief-tank The only change I made was the design for the squares. Here is my pattern for the squares: There will be a right side and a wrong side, so you do not turn the article.
