Easy dishcloth

EASY DISHCLOTH

Supplies: Crafters cotton (any brand). 1.5 oz (50 g) ball makes one cloth, so a big ball makes many.

Crochet hook: 5mm or 5.5 mm

Stitches used: chain (ch), single crochet (sc)

Start by chaining 25 plus 2

Row 1: sc in 3rd chain from hook, *ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next chain* repeat * to * to end of chain, ch 2 turn

Row 2: sk sc on last row, *sc in ch 1 space of previous row, ch 1, sk next stitch, sc in next ch 1 space*, repeat * to * to end of row, ch 2 turn.

Repeat row 2 until you have 24 rows completed.

Finish off yarn and weave end through pattern.

You now have a simple and sturdy dishcloth.

Don't let size fool you! This cloth stretches when it is wet and shrinks back to its orginal size when washed and dried.

SHOULDER SHAWL Yarn required: 2 skeins Caron Simply Soft Hook Size: 5mm (H or 8) Stitches used: DC, chain, V-stitch using DC (DC, ch 1, DC)  Skill level: Intermediate to advanced I apologize in advance for the quality of the garment in the photos. I made it a long time ago and it gets well-worn each winter. All of the others I have made have been donated to charity. Even though it appears to be a light and airy shoulder shawl it is quite warm and does use up the better part of 2 skeins. PATTERN START: Chain 90 plus 2, turn Row 1: sc in 3rd stitch and in each chain across, ch 1, turn Round 2 to 7: repeat round 1, except on round 7 ch 4 (counts as 1st dc and sc on next round) before turn. Note: (You might like to place stitch markers at each shoulder start and finish on this next round and carry them forward as you work.) Row 8: DC, ch 1 in next 18 sts (total of 19 DC including ch 3 start), V-stitch in next stitch (start of shoulder)

  A great way to use up excess yarn, especially the ugly stuff you might not like. Some mats might be pretty, some might be ugly, but all will be surprisingly spongy and a perfect cat magnet. CAT MAT #3 I am making a granny square using a 2 half-double crochet cluster (HDC) instead of 3 double crochet. The shell stich is also made with HDC instead of DC. The finished mat is around 19" x 13" Supplies needed are: 5mm/I/9 hook Any worsted weight yarn Stitches used are half-double crochet, standing HDC, standing single crochet, single crochet and chain stitch.  There are many tutorials on how to make the HDC and the Standing Stitch, so I won't describe it here. Make the pad 20 rounds if using a thin yarn like Caron Simply Soft, or 18 rounds using a thicker yarn. Make 2 pads. Finish off the loose ends before joining them together.
