Hexi-cardi - 2 colour

 



Yarn: DK about 1900 yards total

Hook: 4.5mm

Stitches used: hdc, fpdc, bpdc

Pattern had 3/4 sleeves.

Do 24 rounds colour #1 each piece using 2hdc cluster, instead of 3 dc cluster. Do 2 hdc, ch 2 and 2 hdc in corners.

Sew shoulder. Do 9 rounds around piece. Then do 5 rows on the back only.

Sew backs together with whip stitch.

Do 40 rows at bottom of piece.

Do 5 rounds around entire piece in colour #2.

Do 5 rounds of ribbing using FPDC and BPDC.

SHOULDER SHAWL Yarn required: 2 skeins Caron Simply Soft Hook Size: 5mm (H or 8) Stitches used: DC, chain, V-stitch using DC (DC, ch 1, DC)  Skill level: Intermediate to advanced I apologize in advance for the quality of the garment in the photos. I made it a long time ago and it gets well-worn each winter. All of the others I have made have been donated to charity. Even though it appears to be a light and airy shoulder shawl it is quite warm and does use up the better part of 2 skeins. cat mat #1

  A great way to use up excess yarn, especially the ugly stuff you might not like. Some mats might be pretty, some might be ugly, but all will be surprisingly spongy and a perfect cat magnet. Make it any size you like but end on an even number of rounds if you use the shell stitch border. CAT MAT #3 I am making a granny square using a 2 half-double crochet cluster (HDC) instead of 3 double crochet. The shell stich is also made with HDC instead of DC. The finished mat is around 19" x 13" Supplies needed are: 5mm/I/9 hook Any worsted weight yarn Stitches used are half-double crochet, standing HDC, standing single crochet, single crochet and chain stitch.  There are many tutorials on how to make the HDC and the Standing Stitch, so I won't describe it here.
