Fun & Simple Granny Stitch Cowl

FUN & SIMPLE GRANNY STITCH COWL

Yarn: Worsted weight - less than a skein

Hook: 5mm or H

Pattern start:

(You can use any colours you want. I use two because this goes with a matching set of my slouchy hats and modified mitts.) If using two colours always pull the colour from the previous round in front of the hanging yarn from the round just finished.

Chain 99. Join to first chain, making sure it is not twisted.

Round 1: Ch3 (counts as first DC), DC in next 2 sts, ch 2, *skip 2 sts, DC in next 3 sts, ch 2*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with ss to first DC. Do not turn. Leave yarn hanging if using more than one colour.

Round 2: Ch 5 (or join colour 2 and ch 5), *skip first 3 DCs on previous round, 3 DC in ch 2 space, ch 2*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with SC to ch 3 of beginning ch 5. Leave yarn hanging if using more than one colour.

Round 3: SS into space on previous round. Pick up yarn from round 1 in front of hanging yarn from round 2. Repeat round 1

Round 4 to 15: repeat rounds 2 and 3.

Optional edging. After round 15 you can do a SC border around the edge at the top and bottom of the cowl.
