Some mats might be pretty, some might be ugly, but all will be surprisingly spongy and a perfect cat magnet. The brick stitch pattern uses up a lot of yarn and does call for more work than usual, but it is worth it in the end. Supplies needed are: 5mm/I/9 hook Any worsted weight yarn Stitches used are double crochet, chain stitch and single crochet There are many tutorials on how to make the brick stitch so I won't describe it here. Make the pad 17 bricks by 25 bricks. Make 2 pads. Finish off the loose ends before joining them together. FOR DOG MAT: Make mat 33 x 33 bricks. Line up the corner of the 2 mats. Using a hanging single crochet do 1 sc, ch3, 1 sc in corner. 3 ch, and sc between the next 2 bricks until the end. In next corner do 1sc, ch 3, 1sc. finish off yarn at the end.
